Detroit Karate-do Hall of Fame

Purpose
To recognize athletes, instructors, coaches, and supporters in the Detroit area for their outstanding contributions to the development, growth, teaching, coaching, and competition in the art of traditional Karate-do.

Criteria

  • Must have made a substantial contribution to the development, growth, teaching, coaching, or athletic performance in the art of traditional Karate-do.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Categories

  • Man or Woman of the Year Award
    An achievement award given to individuals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to the development, growth, and promotion of traditional Karate-do in the Detroit area.
  • Instructor of the Year Award
    Awarded to a Sensei who has taught a student or team that has represented the Detroit area and won a medal in National or International Championships.
  • Athlete of the Year Award
    Awarded to a competitor who has represented the USA at the highest level of traditional Karate in the international arena and has won a medal for their country.
  • Coach of the Year Award
    Given to a coach who has been instrumental in developing athletes in the sport of Karate, both in school and in the community.
    • Helps pave the way for athletes to compete in numerous national and international events.
    • Provides technical advice and trains athletes to perform at their best level.
  • Instructor of the Year Award
    • Produces quality athletes, coaches, and officials.
    • Produces National Champion athletes.
    • Demonstrates dedicated service.
    • Makes significant humanitarian contributions.
  • Outstanding Junior Award
    • Awarded to athletes 18 years of age or younger.
